Project: Wall Stories

Wall Story No. 1, 2020, pieces of wall, resin, 12.1 x 14.4 x 6cm

Since 1968 the Superbee site has been a hive for human activity and served as a honey factory and a tourist attraction. The business sold ten years ago, and the property has been vacant since.

Wall Stories (2020) capture and preserve the different human interactions with the Superbee Buildings well as the destruction of this site. I stored the memories seen by its walls like a library system in the form of time capsules. I used spatial drawings to respond to the ephemeral nature of the graffiti and the building deconstruction, which is in constant flux. The site continued to attract visitors that transformed the site into a state of chaos. Destruction of the building and layers of graffiti captured human activity over time, despite the building being boarded up, which served as a time capsule preserving the evidence of human activity. Ironically these sculptures are the only physical remains of previous activity at the Superbee as the building burned down in February 2020.

These sculptures are for sale. The sculpture comes with a signed print of the sculpture in situ. Send your enquiry via the contact form.
